The Benedictine Church in Sopron as a Votive Church

This Benedictine Church was built in the 13th century. Saint John of Capistrano preached here several times in 1456. Two Queens and one King were crowned here in the course of centuries and parliament held five sessions in this Church.
The site is not far from this Church where the Hungarian Governement lifted the Iron Curtain initiating the downfall of communism. Thousands and thousands of people knelt and prayed while the barbed wire was being torn down and the border opened for passage into the Free World.
Forty years of communist neglect and abuse at times as a storage site for grain left the Church in a state of dreadful disrapear. We would like to restore this Benedictine Church as a Votive Church to thank God for the liberation of Hungary and Eastern Europe from the yoke of communism without bloodshed. We ask all benevolent people to help with the restaurations by offering prayers and monetary assistance. May West and East be united int he expression of thanks-giving to God for the Deliverance from the evols of communism. God bless all those who help with the restaurations of the Votive Church in Sopron.
